The Villages High School at The Villages in Florida installed a new Watchfire video scoreboard in their football stadium in the summer of 2015. TV and journalism teacher Megan Licciardello leads students through pre-game production, live event filming and instant replay using the scoreboard.

Licciardello’s class uses a Tricaster switching system to push sponsor ads and live clips to the scoreboard. Students operate cameras and communicate with headsets to produce the school’s Friday night football games. Coursework also includes pre-production and production of sponsor commercials in the classroom.

“When we go out there, they are put in a “real world” situation. They are forced to see the pressures that come with live productions. If you mess up, you have to keep going. It doesn’t end.” adds Licciardello.
