Lampasas High School

Lampasas Independent School District, located in Central Texas, has long been a source of pride for its students and community. When the district’s nearly 20-year-old football scoreboard and display began to fail, leaders knew it was time for an upgrade, one that balanced affordability, functionality, and community impact.
“We were at a critical point,” said Dr. Chane Rascoe, superintendent of Lampasas ISD. “We wanted something modern and affordable that would truly benefit our students and community.”
After reviewing multiple proposals, Lampasas ISD partnered with Watchfire to deliver a comprehensive LED solution designed for athletics, student recognition, and community engagement. The installation features a 10’ high by 24’ wide 16mm LED videoboard, paired with a 4’ high by 24’ wide scoreboard designed to integrate seamlessly beneath the display. An additional 6’ high x 4’ wide snap clock provides additional visibility for the game clock, down, and yards to go.
“We wanted something modern and easy to manage with strong graphics, video capabilities, and room for advertising,” Rascoe explained.
To support full video production, Lampasas ISD selected Watchfire’s Ignite Sports scoring and entertainment software and a new 4K camera to deliver a smooth, professional experience for fans and staff.
Since installation, the videoboard has become a valuable communication and revenue-generating asset. Within its first two years, the district generated more than $50,000 in advertising revenue through partnerships with local businesses, helping support athletics and school programs while strengthening community connections.
Beyond revenue, the display plays a central role in celebrating students. It’s used during junior high, JV, and varsity games, graduations, community events, and special recognitions. “The biggest benefit is highlighting the kids,” Rascoe shared. “They appreciate being recognized, and it builds pride and confidence.”
Content for the videoboard is managed by a career and technical education (CTE) class, giving students hands-on experience in video production, marketing, and digital content management, extending the display’s value into the classroom.
Today, the Watchfire videoboard is more than a scoreboard. It’s a focal point for school spirit, student achievement, and community engagement. As Rascoe put it, “It’s something new and exciting that brings people together and showcases what matters most, our students.”
