Northwestern State University of Louisiana is blending rich tradition with modern technology through the installation of three new high-resolution video scoreboards from Watchfire.

As part of the renovation of Brown-Stroud Field, the university’s 1939 baseball stadium, NSU introduced a 10mm LED video scoreboard measuring 17 feet tall by 40 feet wide. The display provides video replays, player statistics, and sponsorship opportunities, positioning the field as a premier baseball venue. The scoreboard was made possible through a donation from BOM Bank.

“Working with Watchfire was a smooth and easy process from our first call through the installation of the boards,” said Kevin Bostian, director of athletics at Northwestern State University. “We look forward to continuing to expand our Watchfire inventory at additional facilities here at Northwestern State.”

Inside Prather Coliseum, home to Demon volleyball and men’s and women’s basketball, two new Watchfire videoboards are changing the fan experience. Measuring 9 feet by 16 feet and 15 feet by 25 feet with 3.9mm pixel pitch, the displays deliver sharp resolution in the nearly 60-year-old arena.

The installation at Prather Coliseum required a customized engineering solution due to the building’s architecture. Watchfire’s in-house team collaborated with university staff and installation partners to design and implement a secure, code-compliant plan that preserved the historic facility’s character.

“Adding Watchfire’s boards will help energize our atmosphere for both basketball and volleyball games inside Prather Coliseum,” Bostian said. “The technology and specifications will help us engage our fan base in a way we have been unable to before.”

Watchfire manufactures rugged, U.S.-built video displays with the highest quality components from around the globe. The company’s solutions are designed to deliver brightness, reliability, and versatility for sports venues of all sizes.

“In today’s ever-evolving NCAA landscape, Northwestern State has taken a significant step forward in enriching the game-day experience,” said Clint Burges, major account sales manager at Watchfire. “Our goal was to push the boundaries of technology to deliver a better experience for NSU, and we look forward to seeing these new videoboards come to life during the upcoming volleyball and basketball seasons.”

The investment in Watchfire scoreboards at Brown-Stroud Field and Prather Coliseum highlights Northwestern State’s commitment to creating top-tier game-day environments while also offering new opportunities for sponsorship and community engagement.
