Project Overview

New Mexico State University upgraded the game-day experience at Aggie Memorial Stadium with a new 31-foot-tall by 60-foot-wide Watchfire video scoreboard. The existing scoreboard structure was retrofitted to support the high-resolution 16mm LED display, allowing the university to modernize its college football stadium while continuing to use the original structure.

The Challenge

New Mexico State University wanted to create a more exciting and engaging environment for Aggie football fans. The university needed a modern football scoreboard capable of displaying more than scores and statistics while also fitting the stadium’s existing mounting structure.

The installation required a customized approach that would provide the structural support, durability, and finished appearance needed for a large outdoor videoboard.

The Solution

New Mexico State selected a 31-foot by 60-foot Watchfire video scoreboard featuring a 16mm pixel pitch. The video display was installed in time for the Aggies’ first win of the 2024 season against Southeast Missouri State University.

The new videoboard gives the university the ability to display real-time scores and statistics, live game footage, instant replays, sponsor messages, and fan prompts such as “Make Some Noise!” The scoreboard delivers bright, detailed visuals that help fans follow the action from throughout Aggie Memorial Stadium.

A Customized Installation

Watchfire partnered with YESCO to complete the customized installation. YESCO engineered a steel frame designed to work with the stadium’s existing mounting brackets. The team also created aluminum end cladding and mesh frames for the front and back of the structure, giving the finished scoreboard a clean, durable appearance.

The Results

The upgraded football scoreboard has transformed how New Mexico State University communicates with fans during games. Live video, instant replays, statistics, prompts, and other content now create a more immersive experience while helping maintain energy throughout the stadium.
